Can't believe some are talking about their body language in those pictures.

I mean fuck off, what a load of bollocks.

I sit the same way whenever I'm in meetings and according to the so called experts, my folding my arms means I'm defensive or some other nonsense.

Maybe it's just because I find it comfortable?

Very good post. Well written.

Of the current squad Lanzini is the most natural and obvious replacement to go alongside Obiang.

Passes as well as Noble, uses the ball more quickly, just as good at interceptions, marginally less impressive in the tackle and better vision. Quicker over the ground too.

Exactly. The only thing missing from this - and I cannot understand how others don't see this - is how important he is in bringing together a group of players, many of them still young or inexperienced in the PL. It's plain as day that they look to him for leadership and that we look far more resilient when he plays than when he doesn't.

"Maybe, maybe not. But he's past his best and on the downward slide and that's hard to disagree with."

Not hard at all. He, along with most of the team, have not played as well this season, but he still has some of the most impressive stats in passing, tackles etc not just for West Ham but in the Premier League (19th for midfielders passing, 11th for midfielders tackles). He is a brilliant penalty taker, missing only 4 out of 33 taken in his career. At 29 he is at or coming to his peak, is an experienced player who rarely suffers injuries and is fiercely loyal to the club. Fernandes may well be his replacement in the long run, but to suggest he is ready now to replace him is absolutely laughable, and others suggesting Kouyate is even more laughable. People have been criticising Noble for a whole host of things, and in particular the number of free kicks he gives away around the penalty area - imagine how many Kouyate would give away, as witnessed by his clumsy tackle on Zarate last weekend, and on numerous other occasions. Noble has been picked by every manager since Curbishley, has been made captain by the last two, and yet there are idiots like you claiming to know better. Of course he's not perfect, and he'd be the first to admit it, but the abilities he does have make up for any that he doesn't in spades. We are very lucky to have him.

Yes, stats don't tell everything, but nevertheless, those stats still make some posters on here look as muggy as I suspected they were. The idea that Boble is our weak link is, in the words of dearly departed KIA, "LAUGHABLE!"

"It's as if they're trying to promote him as our 'Gerrard'. The main problem being that he has nowhere near the same ability as Gerrard and being a local lad can only get you so far."

Maybe, but at least he doesn't have a neanderthal hairline!

He's slow and in Fernandes we have his replacement. I don't want players replaced when they become shit, I want them replaced when they are coming to the end of their best years. And he is.

We seem to have been having this conversation since Noble made his debut. Its nonsense and its always been nonsense. He dominates the midfield, breaks up attacks and turns defence into attack with precise passing.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
Done a bit of stat comparison between Kouyate, Noble and Obiang, looking mainly at passing and defensive stats. Obviously have to bear in mind that Kouyate playing in defence affects his stats a bit, but the idea that Noble doesn't contribute to the team is an utter joke. I know stats need to be taken with a pinch of salt, but they do tell an interesting tale.

Mind you, defensively speaking, Obiang is an utter beast.

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
I think Mark Noble is a great captain but he is starting to look like one of weaker players around there and time isn't on his side.

Fernandes looks a real player to me, a box to box man who starts to deserve an extended run as we move into the final third of the season with not much to play for.

I would still like to see an Obiang and Kouyate pairing because I think if we could get them to gel that pairing would be fucking immense.

The problem is that in too many games it looks like other players are out of position or benched because Noble needs to play and given where he is in his career we need him to give way to players with a brighter future.

I think he may leave in the summer, a Bournemouth or Palace may be tempted, or a promoted club, if we get a new manager in the summer then I think he will definitely be gone.

Mark Noble is a water carrier but all decent teams need them and we play much better with him in the side.
When all the twats have their heads turned and want to fuck off for a better offer, Noble will be the last man standing.
You can't buy loyalty

Re: Slav and Noble daily mail interview
Noble gets a bad press on here because he runs around covering for people and filling gaps in the defense. It does not look real good and people do not appreciate it. But it is a job well done that makes the team much better.

Jimbo, given what Geoff Hurst has done for the club in the past, maybe we should play him too?

I just don't get the negative press that Mark Noble gets on here, from several posters. 1307 almost looks like he may be the new fordstar/rodfarts, God help us if he is! MN may not be our best player, but he is still a decent one. No one plays nearly 400 games, for so many different managers, without being at least decent & he is also a good captain & penalty taker!

"Are these 2 gay lovers?"

I very much doubt that. As mentioned earlier, look at the body language - even if only from stills. They are mostly leaning away from each other, Noble looks out the corner of his eye at Bilic, Bilic crosses his arms or puts out a defensive "stay away" hand when others are speaking or he is being asked. Noble has his hand constantly close to touching his ear or mouth - this signifies readiness to lie or deceive.

In all, it doesn't look like as if they even LIKE each other. If that's not the case, the process of being asked about the club together is proving very uncomfortable for both. Perhaps they are just scared they will reveal very differing opinions.

Also. The club would sell more Iron Man DVDs if they'd got it out 7 months earlier. Shoddy.

1307

That was one of the more difficult sagas any club has had to go through this season, particularly on the back of such a successful season. The fact the dressing wasn't completely lost (like say Leceister) is a credit to both of them. Just because you have a good captain does not mean the team will never struggle.
